In this article you will find useful home-schooling programs which you will be able to implement in your everyday life and ensure your children will not fall behind in school. As parents ourselves, our daughter loves the internet and all the gadgets, however it makes us feel a lot better when she is using the tools available to her to educate herself.
The children will be at home for a very long time and many will miss their friends, social gatherings and education.
Daily structure
Important thing to remember is to have structure to your day! Therefore, we have decided to created a timetable and a sticker chart with daily activities.
Get your children involved in creating the daily activity plan, it will make them feel important and more likely willing to participate. Don’t forget the rewards, in the current situation, buying a new toy might not be an option. However, what about letting your child choose what you are going to eat next day or what game they would like to play all together?
Check out our article on how to reduce household bills, which will same you money and help you survive financially Covid-19.
Some of you may still have to work from home, it is important that your child understands. Therefore, having a day structure will allow you to have a few hours for yourself. Whilst your child is watching an interesting video or having some free time to play, you might have a few hours to yourself. If you have more than one child, think of something they could do together whilst you are working:
- Watching Blue Peter
- Playing in the garden
- Colouring
- Arts and Crafts
Home schooling program – daily planner
Many TV channels have introduced home schooling programs to keep your children entertained. Nevertheless, it does not mean that you should have your child glued to TV all day long.
Did you know? Body Coach have introduced a national PE with Joe class Monday to Friday at 9am! Great way to get the children day started and what a great way of introducing them to a lifestyle which will benefit them for a lifetime.
Many schools have created packs for children to take home and help them carry on learning whilst the school is shut. Take this opportunity to help them learn and get involved with their everyday learning.
Online home – schooling programs are very beneficial. Besides, there are so many platforms like KidsTube where children can self-educate, and they offer free trials to support the parents who have to home-school their kids. Some of your schooling could be supported by some of those platforms, check the parent portal of your school for more information:
check out free celebrity classes – home-schooling programs
I must say, in this time of need, it is amazing how everyone comes together to help. Many celebrities have given up their time to help with home-schooling, and entertain the children whilst passing on valuable information:
- Music with Myleene klass
- Science with Maddie Moate
- Dance with Oti Mabuse
- Maths with Carol Vorderman
- History with Dan Snow
- English with David Walliams
Take turns with your partner to entertain the kids and to have a few hours to yourself, remember not to leave your children with elderly relatives. As we are aware, children have been more resilient to coronavirus compare to elderly. Alternatively, a child could be a carrier and not showing any symptoms, however your elderly relative could be more likely to pick up a virus and suffer heavily throughout its course.
Fun time with your kids
Have some fun together, when was the last time you spend more than two weeks together with your spouse or partner and your children? Most of the working-class people do not have this opportunity often. Embrace it!
Cooking Together!
Well this is an activity you can do all together. Take cooking the meals and doing the washing up in turns. Create a menu for different part of the day where your child could choose from, and the whole family will be happy with. Our daughter has created a breakfast menu, she loves the process. Now, every morning she looks at the menu and she is able to give a clear answer on what she would like. Rather than ‘what is there?’ or ‘I don’t know’.
Your children can help you cook. Involve them in preparing the meal, it will help them understand about food and set a healthy lifestyle in the future. If you are not a kitchen wizard yourself, not a problem, just research a recipe you would like to cook and do it together.
Our daughter love baking and cooking, we have a fantastic polenta biscuit recipe which we make at home on regular basis.
After mealtime, get your child to help you to clean up. Another valuable life skill and you should not be left with all the washing to do by yourself.
Home-schooling programs do not have to be only academic! During this precious time that you have together, you are passing on life skills to your child at such a valuable time in their life.
Just relax and enjoy each other
Spend some quality time together, get to know your children. Their likes and dislikes, hopes and dream. Maybe your child has a secret passion you were too busy to notice, and you have the time on your hand to embrace it.
It appears that for a while at least, our four walls will become our entire world. Possibly, we now have the time to teach our children some lessons that they would have missed on, if the external world would have not stopped.
We hope you have found our home schooling program useful and informative, share it with your friends who might be in the same situation.
