Aperol Spritz drink is so easy and quick to make, just add Aperol, Pinot Grigio together and top up with soda. That is it! Could not be simpler to enjoy an Italian aperitif anywhere you are in the world! Why not have a fanatic Aperol drink with some suppli al telefono as a starter to your meal, will defiantly get your appetite going. If you are looking for a lighter dish with your Aperol cocktail try to server some Sicilian Caponata with some toasted ciabata bread. 

Where does Aperol Drink originates from?

This aperitif cocktail dates to 19th century when Venice was still part of the Austrian Empire, therefore this drink is widely served in North Italy. However, it has become so popular due to it’s refreshing nature and now is server all over the world.

What is the best wine to use for this cocktail?

Aperol cocktail usually made with the wine from Veneto region. The best options would be Pinot Grigio or Soave, both dry wines with high acidity. Some of the Italian bars do serve Aperol spritz with Prosecco instead of wine.

What flavour is Aperol?

Aperol is an Italian aperitif with hint of herb, orange, and rhubarb flavour. It has a slight bitterness to it however when combined with wine and topped with soda it loses the bitterness and compliments the wine.

Let's Make Aperol cocktail!

2 glasses of aperol spritz with a slice of orange on the top of the wine glass

Ingredients:

  • 3 shots of Pinot Grigio
  • 2 shots of Aperol
  • Top up with soda
  • 1 slice of orange to garnish

Method:

  1. Fill the wine glass with ice
  2. Pour the ingredients in the wine glass in order
  3. Stir the cocktail mixture using a cocktail stirrer
  4. Add a slice of orange for garnish

You can substitute wine with Prosecco using the same ratio just top it up with soda afterwards.
